A charming and dramatic oil on board painting of a black dog. The painting is very well worked and the dog has a wonderful look. The painting is not signed and is most likely the work of a talented amateur, painted in the country. The painting is in excellent condition and has been professionally cleaned. The work is framed in a period bird''s eye maple frame, this has the most pleasing original colour and patina. The whole has a great look and is ready to hang. C.1880.
