Late Georgian Oil Painting of Cattle in Landscape

A charming English school oil painting of cattle in a landscape setting, dating to the late Georgian period. The painting is on canvas later laid down onto board. The scene shows cattle drinking from a river, while a sheep looks on, and in the distance can just be seen a rider on a horse. The painting is not signed but this is typical for this type of work from this relatively early date. The painting has been professionally cleaned and is in good condition, there is an old repair in the sky. The painting retains the original fine quality gilt frame which is in great untouched tired country house condition. The whole has a wonderful English country house look to it and is ready to hang. C.1820.
