Oil Painting of a Lady by George Crozier Rca

A fine oil on artist board by George Crozier (fl.1865-1886) of a lady lost in thought standing in a garden. The painting is worked in thin oil with the background really quickly painted in broad brushstrokes and the figure carefully executed in great subtle detail. The painting is signed to the lower right and dated 1867. George Crozier was from a family of painters, he exhibited at the Royal Academy and elsewhere from 1866, he was a member of the Royal Cambrian Academy. The painting has been professionally cleaned and is in excellent condition. The work is mounted in a fine period gilt frame which is in good untouched country house condition. The whole has a beautiful simple elegance and style to it and is ready to hang.
