Victorian Marine Oil Painting Fishing Boats At Dawn

A fine Victorian oil on canvas depicting fishing boats at dawn. The painting is beautifully done and captures the time of day and the light brilliantly. It is however strangely unsigned. The painting has been professionally cleaned and is mounted in the original frame. The frame has a Glasgow makers label giving a possible idea of origin for the work. The frame has had some wear and over gilding but it has a great slightly tired look and works well with the painting. The whole has a wonderful period look and is ready to hang. C.1880.
