'Contemplation' Oil Painting by Thomas S. Bowman

A fine and charming oil on canvas farmyard scene by Thomas S. Bowman entitled 'Contemplation'. The painting is beautifully done and the calf in particular is very well observed. The work is signed and dated 1884 to the lower right. The title is given on the reverse of the painting as is the artist name and address, an indication that it was exhibited. The painting has been professionally cleaned and is in excellent condition. The frame is the original and in excellent condition with some old minor repairs. Thomas S Bowman is recorded as exhibiting as both the Royal Academy and the Royal Scottish Academy.

The whole makes the most charming painting with a great decorative period appeal.
