Fine Victorian Mountainous Landscape Oil Painting

A fine and interesting oil on board landscape scene. The view is dominated by mountains in the background whilst in the foreground there are figures on a road stopping to talk. The work is beautifully done and very technically competent. It is signed to the lower right and it appears to read 'I. Snnell' however I have been unable to locate this artist. The painting has been professionally cleaned and is in excellent condition. The gilt frame would be the original and is very good quality, it has had some wear but is in wonderful untouched condition. The whole has a great country house look and is ready to hang. C.1860.
