With just a few brushstrokes, the artist provides us with the very essence of the mystery of a wood a twilight, sparking our imagination. There is greenery, a glimmer of light; silhouetted trees: one can almost feel the dampening night air.

Dating from circa 1890, and French in origin, our painting has an absolutely timeless feel. An oil on a quality (mahogany?) artist's panel, the it is unsigned, with no indication as to its author. Measuring 17.5 x 27cm cm, the overall framed size in a gorgeous Louis XV style frame is 34 x 42 cm.
