Pair of Miniature Oils by Raymond Louis Charmaison

A beautiful pair of miniature oils on panel by Raymond Louis Charmaison 1876-1955. The pair are wonderful little gems, painted in stunning colours and depicting gardens. One work centres around a neoclassical urn and the other a path through a Japanese garden. The pair are painted on small walnut panels which were used by artists as they were so portable and allowed quick works to be done in the outdoors. The pair are in excellent untouched condition and retain the original frames. The paintings are not signed but that is not unusual for this type of work and the frames clearly state the artist. Raymond Louis Charmaison exhibited in Paris at the Salon of the Société des Artistes Français who accepted him as a member in 1907, the Salon d'Automne (member in 1919) and the Salon of the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts (member in 1921). He also showed his works at the Salon des Tuileries. He chiefly painted views of Paris, Versailles and the Château de Versailles.

The pair make a beautiful group and the bright colours jump of the wall giving a wonderful decorative impact.
