Original 1920s Nude Study, Femme Nue De Dos, Paris, France

Description

A gentle early-20th-century study of a nude female from behind. She looks to her right with cheeks slightly flushed as her back twists to create a beautiful curve.

On the reverse on the board, a label refers to the Parisian art store of Gustave Sennelier. This was opened in 1887 and was a popular destination for many leading painters, such as Cézanne, Gauguin and Van Gogh. Clearly the artist that created this piece was in very good company indeed.

The portrait is housed within a painted wooden frame.

Size including frame: 23” x 30” / 58cm x 77cm

Year of creation: c. 1925

Provenance: France

Condition: Very good overall. Frame with light age-related wear.
