Frank Spenlove Spenlove RI, ROI, RBA (1868-1933).:

Painter of landscapes and genre scenes in oil and watercolour, Frank Spenlove Spenlove was born at Bridge of Allan, Stirling, in 1868. He studied art in Paris, London and Antwerp and exhibited in London at the Royal Academy from 1886 and won a gold medal at the Paris Salon of 1901. He founded the Yellow Door School of Art at Beckenham, Kent, in 1896 which later moved to London. Travels took him to Holland, Belgium and Italy where he painted but he worked mostly in England turning gradually away from genre scenes towards landscape. He was elected a member of the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours, Royal Institute of Oil Painters and Royal Society of British Artists. He exhibited at all the major galleries and his work is represented in numerous collections at home and abroad.
