Victorian Oil Portrait of a Paperboy

A fine oil on canvas portrait of a paperboy by Kate A. Simpson dated 1894. The painting has a great simple almost modern look to it and the expression on the paperboy brilliantly captured. Kate Simpson seems to have lived in Kent and exhibited at the London Salon, her other works look to have been portraits as well and as such she was probably a specialist portrait painter. The painting is in excellent condition having been professionally cleaned. The wonderful frame is the original and in untouched condition with original gilding and silvering. A interesting period work with a great decorative impact.
