A fine quality oil on canvas portrait of a gentleman. The portrait is typically posed with the young man dressed in high collars and dark jacket. He has a very youthful appearance and typically Byronic tousled hair. The painting is of a fine quality by a highly competent hand but is not signed as is often the case with portraits. The painting has had a gentle clean and a slight repair to a small tear, it is otherwise in good untouched condition. The frame is a period gilt frame and is again in excellent untouched condition with wonderful original gilding. The whole is a great piece of period interior decoration and ready to hang. C.1820.
