Brave Fine Art has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
Her delicate golden lorgnette (which is a pair of spectacles with a handle) is folded and held between her thumb and index finger.
On the reverse, various inscriptions seem to refer to the sitter and/or the artist but it’s hard to decipher them. Perhaps you may be able to discover the young lady’s name?
The portrait is housed within a period swept giltwood frame decorated with foliate corners.
