Description

A colourful mid-20th-century cityscape by Swedish painter, Brita Von Sydow Södöö (1884-1959).

The composition is framed by the towering vertical lines of three industrial chimneys. One billows smoke into the air as the other two lay dormant.

Brita has used an exciting palette of purple hues to illustrate the rooftops that continue towards the horizon. With the nearest buildings being blocked in with red, blue and brown.

The painting is housed in what appears to be its original frame and signed in the lower right.

Size including frame: 27” x 34” / 69cm x 86cm

Year of creation: c. 1940

Provenance: Sweden

Condition: Very good overall with no significant issues. Frame with light age-related wear.
