A beautifully simple oil on canvas depicting a scene in rural France. In the foreground, a lady is sitting side-saddle, while being escorted along a path towards an impressive country residence. While further back, a group of four ladies are standing by a lake before a distant church.

Size: 18” x 17” / 46cm x 43cm

Year of creation: c. 1780

Provenance: France

Condition: Several small losses but the paint layer is now stable since its restoration. Canvas relined.
