Fine Pair of Watercolour Still Lifes by Arthur Dudley

A fine and decorative pair of watercolour still life paintings of fruit by Arthur Dudley. Each painting has a large and varied selection of the most wonderful fruit including cherries, melons, oranges and apples, centred around a bottle in one and a ceramic jar in the other. The paintings are typical of the artist's work with bold brush strokes and rich colours. The pair are both in excellent condition with no fading. Each work is signed to the lower right 'A Dudley' and dated 1900.

Arthur Dudley Exhibited between 1890 and 1907 and I would think it is very likely these were exhibited. He exhibited at the Royal Academy and the Royal Society of British Artists as well as in Liverpool and the Royal Watercolour Society. It is generally accepted that he also painted under the pseudonym 'Giovanni Barbaro' and his works were generally still-life studies of fruit and Egyptian desert or town scenes.he exhibited at the Royal Academy and the Royal Society of British Artists. He lived in London and in his later period moved to Bath.

The pair are mounted in the original fine quality gilt frames with wonderful original gilding, they are in good condition with some very minor repairs.

The pair have wonderful decorative impact and work brilliantly on the wall together. The whole are in excellent ready to hang condition.
