A fine oil on mahogany panel by Charles Collins RBA. The painting is a beautiful little jewel of a work and shows cattle grazing along the side of a river bank, it has the perfect feel of a misty autumnal morning. The painting is signed to the lower right in full. The painting is in great untouched condition and is bright and clear. Charles Collins was a painter of rustic and genre scenes flourishing between 1867 and 1903, he died in 1921. He was a highly regarded painter of the period exhibiting at the Royal Academy from 1867-1903 as well as other London Galleries. This painting will have been an exhibited work as it retains the artist''s address label on the reverse as well as a snippet of a review which mentions this painting. The painting is framed in the original gilt frame with hand painted title, it does have some wear to the gilding but is in overall excellent untouched condition. The whole is a great little decorative painting by a good artist in the original frame. C.1900....
