This gorgeous oil on panel depicts an old French farmhouse near Pouligny Saint- Pierre, a hamlet in the Creuze region that is the home to the famous goats cheese of the same name.
Painted on a sunny summer's day, it is the very image of rural bliss.
Dating probably from the 1930s, it is a work by noted landscape painter André Beronneau (Bordeaux 1886–1973) who exhibited at the Salon des Indépendants in Paris between 1926 and 1935.
The painting measures 33 x 46cm is signed at the lower left and titled/situated by the artist in French on the verso. The overall framed size in a more recent frame is 40 x 52.5 cm.
