As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this large and imposing Meiji period 1868-1912 bronze Okimono by the highly regarded artist Akasofu Gyoko , Gyoko was working in the Meiji period as a metalwork artist specialising in high quality Bird and Animalia okimono, as well as casting parcel gilded figures and Samurai Warriors in the manner of Miyao Eisuke , here he has captured a very heavy and large scale powerful rendition of an adult Tiger stood upon a rocky outcrop with its Cubs close by , the animal appears to be looking out for its next meal , the hungry cubs eagerly awaiting the parents next move , the artist has finished the Tigers striations in super detail as well as highlighting the piercing Eyes with Gold upon Shakudo , we often come across individual Tigers and group okimono but this is different in so many respects , the powerful drawing of the group , the quality of the casting and finishing is particularly crisp , the artist has signed th...
