A fine oil on canvas laid to board depicting a wonderful vase of flowers. This type of painting is typical of the Dutch Golden Age and Jan davidsz de heem. This painting is a nineteenth century work done in this style. The flowers are beautifully worked as is the glass vase with all the reflections, and there is even a butterfly amongst the petals. The painting is in good condition, it has been laid to board sometime in the mid twentieth century and it has been professionally cleaned and a minor hole repaired. The painting is framed in a large and impressive Victorian period gilt frame which really gives the whole a great decorative impact. The whole is in good condition and ready to hang. C.1870.
