Description

David Woodlock 1842-1929.Liverpool artist who developed a very distinct impressionist style in watercolour;painted figures,country scenes as well as Venetian subjects.Exhibited 118 works at the Walker Art Gallery,Liverpool,17 at RA and elsewhere.’ The Mussel Gatherers with New Brighton Tower in the Background ‘signed watercolour,image size 22x17 cms,framed size 41x34cms.Original gilt frame.New Brighton Tower was a steel latice observation tower at New Brighton in the town of Wallasey,Cheshire.It stood 567 feet high,and was the tallest building in Great Britain when it opened some time before 1898 and 1900.The tower was dismantled in 1919.
