Description

An astoundingly realistic portrait of two Bassett hounds in a spring landscape by renowned animal painter Tristan Jules Lacroix (1849-1914)

Lacroix exhibited at the Salon de Paris from 1883 to 1895 and received a commendation in 1883 for painting and in 1886 for sculpture. He was also awarded a bronze medal at the Exposition Universelle of 1889.

Our watercolour measures 22 x 32,5 cm at sight and is signed and dated (18)91 at the lower right. Presented in an attractive frame with a double linen mat, the overall framed size is 45 x 55 cm
