William Cave Day "To Pastures New" Watercolour

Description

William Cave Day was born in Dewsbury, Yorkshire in 1862. He studied painting in Paris under Bernard Constant and Jules Lefebvre and in England at Professor Herkomer’s School in Bushy. William started his painting career in 1890 and exhibited his first Royal Academy painting Gossips in St. Ives, Cornwall that year. He married fellow artist Kathleen Georgina Macellan Day and they lived in Harrogate and Knaresborough, Yorkshire, before returning to the West Country in 1918, where they settled, living in St Ives and Carbis Bay.

"To Pastures New" is an attractive and unusual watercolour by Cave Day. It measures 28"x 14" and is signed lower right. It is mounted into a good period gilt frame giving an overall size of 35"x 26".
