Regency Still Life Oil Painting of a Marble Bust

A very interesting and decorative oil on canvas painting of a marble bust. This type of painting was often done by artists in training to show how they handled painting in one colour. They would be given an item like a marble bust which is monochrome and asked to paint it showing depth and perspective with a limited colour palette. This is a particularly good example and while not signed it screams quality. The painting is on a Roberson and Miller prepared canvas dating it to 1828-1839 . The painting is in excellent condition and has been professionally cleaned. The work is mounted in a nineteenth century gilt frame that has a great faded and worn look. The whole is an interesting work with a great country house look. C.1830
