Artist: John Rennie McKenzie Houston. R.S.W. (1856 - 1932).

Title: "Old Man in Scottish Inn".

Watercolour. Very good original gilt gold leaf swept frame.

Signed. Circa 1890.

Size: 12"x 10". Framed size: 23 3/4"x 21 3/4".

Now picture and frame cleaned and restored and in very good ready to hang condition.

A wonderful example of the artist's interior watercolour scenes.

John Rennie McKenzie Houston. R.S.W. (1856 - 1932)

Scottish artist best known for painting figurative subjects and interiors. Studied and lived in Glasgow. In 1891 he was living in Dennistoun, in 1898 in Cambuslang and in 1907 in Rutherglen.

He became a member of the Royal Scottish Watercolour Society (R.S.W.) in 1889 and exhibited there 36 times. He was also a member of the Royal Scottish Academy (R.S.A), exhibiting there 3 times. In addition he exhibited his work at the Dowdeswell Galleries and 45 times at the Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts.

He died in Edinburgh in 1932.
