A charming oil on oak panel of a lady in a large plumed hat with what can only be said to be an amorous look in her eye. The painting is most likely a copy of a famous work and is very well painted. It would date to the late Victorian or Edwardian period. Like a lot of this type of commercial art it is not signed, also when works were copied they were often not signed. The painting has been professionally cleaned and is in excellent condition. The painting retains the original slip but the outer frame while a good early frame is probably not the original as the slip shows more horizontally than vertically. The frame has a great tired country house look and the whole is ready to hang.
