Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A hand-coloured military engraving is a print produced from an etched or engraved metal plate, with colour applied individually by hand using watercolours. Historically popular during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, these prints documented military uniforms, prominent officers, and political caricatures.

Traditional engravings were executed on heavy rag paper using oil-based ink applied via a copper or steel plate. Once printed, artists added pigments using watercolour washes, resulting in subtle variations across individual impressions.

Authentic period engravings display a distinct plate mark indent around the image perimeter created by the pressure of the printing press. Under magnification, hand-applied watercolour washes show natural brushwork and colour variation, rather than the mechanical dot matrix seen in modern halftone reproductions.

Antique military prints work well paired with contemporary light wood or black frames to contrast traditional subject matter. Display them as part of a gallery wall grid or alongside leather seating and natural timber in a home office or reading nook.

Frame paper prints using acid-free mount board and UV-protective glass to prevent yellowing and pigment fading. Keep the artwork away from direct sunlight, radiator heat, and areas of high humidity.
