Henry Barlow Carter "Robin Hood's Bay" Watercolour

1920 - 1940
Description

Henry Barlow Carter (1804-1968) was born in Bermondsey, South London. He was inspired and influenced by J M W Turner and Peter DeWint, whose work he collected. While living in Plymouth, he exhibited at the Royal Academy of Arts (1827-30), the British Institution and also the Society of British Artists. He moved to Hull, then Scarborough where he settled, painting and exhibiting for many years.

The present watercolour "Robin Hood's Bay" is a lovely quality example measuring 8"x 11". It is unsigned and is framed in a gilt frame giving an overall size of 16"x 18".
