Impressionist Landscape Oil Painting by Charles Menneret

A fine oil on canvas landscape in the impressionist manner by Charles Menneret. The work shows a hilly landscape at sunset with wild flowers to the foreground, and in the hazy background a chateau. The painting is signed Charles Menneret. Charles Menneret 1876-1946 studied under Guillemet and Georges Moteley and exhibited at the Paris Salon from around 1896. The painting has been professionally cleaned and is in excellent condition. The frame is period and possibly the original, as is the gilt slip, both work perfectly with the painting and are in a good untouched country house condition. The whole is an excellent example of french landscape painting and has a great decorative impact. C.1920.
