Fine Victorian Oil Painting of a Cottage Scene

A fine example of Victorian cottage painting, the scene shows a cottage at dawn with the geese setting out to feed. The painting in oils on canvas has some great details particularly the character of the geese and the sky is wonderfully done. The painting is signed to the lower right and on the reverse of the stretcher, sadly both are illegible to me. The quality of the work speaks for itself and the painting must be by a well known Victorian painter. The work retains what looks to be the original frame with good original gilding, it has had a little restoration. The painting has been professionally cleaned and has had some slight restoration to stabilise the work. The whole is in great ready to hang condition and gives a good country house look. C.1880.
