Description

A portrait of a smart mid-19th century gentleman with a green waistcoat, white shirt, and dark necktie. If you squint a little, he bears a passing resemblance to the actor, Jude Law...

It's interesting that he's holding a green book as perhaps this is a clue as to his profession. Or maybe it simply signifies that he’s a keen reader. Either way, this dashing gentleman is nicely presented and would make a fine addition to the right wall.

The portrait is housed within a beautiful gilt foliate frame with corner ornamentation.

Medium: Oil on canvas

Size including frame: 21” x 18½” / 53cm x 47cm

Year of creation: c. 1920

Condition: Artwork with areas of craquelure and minor scuffs around the periphery. Frame with light abrasions.
