As part of our Japanese works of art collection we are delighted to offer this high quality Meiji period 1868-1912 silvered bronze and mixed metal Hawk okimono on carved hardwood stand , the majestic bird of prey is a Goss Hawk , the preferred hunting Bird of the Samurai class , this silvered bronze Bird of Prey is sat in a powerful pose upon a superbly carved hardwood base , a base that has been designed and carved to represent a Lotus plant entwined around a natural root wood , the Birds legs are finely gilded with the talons being picked out in Shakudo , the Eyes and Beak are further decorated with the use of Shakudo and gilt detailing , this magnificent Bird of prey has been signed to the underside by an artist known as Kunichika , a well recorded Meiji period artist who excelled in Bird okimono, a fine quality Okimono for your room setting or Japanese works of art collection .
