An absolutely charming depiction of swallows - birds symbolising happiness and love - nesting in a luxuriant park landscape. Dating from the 1850s-1870s and French in origin, it is an excellent example of art under the reign of Napoleon III. Unsigned, it is a sumptuous, exuberant painting of excellent quality that exudes joyfulness.

Restored, and on its original stretcher, the oil on canvas here presented measures 35 x 51 cm. The overall framed size in a later frame is 43 x 59 cm.
