Description

A sensitive depiction of flowers blooming in a summer garden that is full of delight.

Dating from circa 1920 and French in origin, this oil on canvas in unsigned. However, the inscription MB... on the verso is likely stand for Marcel Bach (1879-1950), a painter from Bordeaux.

After studying at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Bordeaux, Bach exhibited in Paris at the Salon des Indépendants between 1906 and 1932. He also participated in the Salon d'Automne and the Salon des Tuileries.

Measuring 46 x 56 cm, the canvas is painted on both sides, with a -probably discarded- study on the back which may not be by the same hand. The overall framed size is 54 x 63cm.
