Victorian Coaching Scene Oil Painting

A fine oil on thick wooden panel depicting a coaching scene. The painting shows a coaching team having stopped for food and drink. The quality of the painting is very good, I particularly like the horses and the coach which are beautifully observed. The painting is not signed and it may have well been painted for advertising purposes, there are the remains of a label on the reverse which was probably the retailers. The painting is in great untouched condition, with a little bit of craquelure. The work is mounted in the original gilt frame which again is in good condition with a little over gilding and the whole has a great slightly worn look. The painting is ready to hang and has a great decorative look and period appeal. C.1860.
