Description

An utterly charming 19th Century French Provincial painting, depicting a young lady walking along a village street lined with tall trees.

Even though we can only see her back, one notices that she she carries herself with grace. A rather special warm light lends the painting a magical realism.

Painted circa 1890, our oil on canvas measures 35 x 27 cm. It is signed H Chaille at the lower right. Acquired in Nantes, it was probably painted in the West of France. The overall framed size in its original frame is 45 x 37 cm
