Abstracted Woman Reading in the Outdoors, French Cubist Modernist Oil on Panel, Circa 1930-40

Description

A superb, cubist and slightly abstracted oil on panel, depicting a woman engrossed in a book on a warm summer's day.

French in origin and by an anonymous master, the painting is unsigned. I have not yet been able to find an attribution, although the style is distinctive and colours and composition are excellent.

The painting has a slight art deco feel to it and measures 38 x 46. The overall dimensions with its period bronze coloured frame are 57 x 50 cm.
