'A Surrey Common' Oil Painting by Albert Starling

A fine oil on board landscape scene by Albert Starling. The work shows a landscape with lake and silver birch trees, it is titled on the reverse: 'A Surrey Common'. The technique is a very free and confident, outdoor sketch with beautiful summer colours and atmosphere. The painting is mounted in the original simple gilt frame, with the original gilding, it does have the odd mark as is to be expected. The painting is signed to the lower left 'Albert Starling' he is a well known and regarded artist who exhibited between 1880-1913 in various subjects and very widely. He had 16 works at the Royal Academy and 28 at the Royal Academy of Arts Birmingham and exhibited at every other major gallery. The painting has been professionally cleaned and is in excellent condition. C.1900.
