Skippings Fine Arts has dated this piece to the 1930s.
It is a work by the artist Roméo Charles AGLIETTI (1878-1956), who studied in Paris with Georges Rochegosse, and travelled extensively in the first decade of the 20th Century. Active Italy and Tunisia, Egypt and France, he became a true painter of the Mediterranean.
He eventually settled in Algiers, and became one of the founding members of the North African Artists' Union in 1925. Exhibiting in Oran and in Algiers, he also spent time in Morocco.
The painting presented here is an oil on canvas that was laid down on panel, quite possibly by the artist himself. Measuring 40 x 29,5 cm, it is presented in a simple modern gilded frame.
