Lovely pair of atmospheric marine shore scenes.
Painting in watercolour he specialised in landscapes, harbour and coastal scenes, many being views of the French and Dutch coasts.
He was a Member of the Langham Sketching Club in 1885, and became an associate of the Royal Society of Painter-Etchers in 1887, although his membership ceased in 1911.
Charles Frederick Allbon was a competent black and white artist and etcher, however it is for his watercolours depicting the English landscape he is best known. His six Suffolk Street exhibits were all of Still Life and he is an artist who seems to have been overlooked, as his work always seems to be of consistent quality and pleasing subject matter.
