A gentle British autumnal view by listed Anglo-Dutch artist, Abraham Hulk Junior (1851–1922). It’s a beautifully rendered scene, which has been captured with a great deal of skill and appreciation for the various effects of light.

Note how the tree on the right helps to guide your eye towards the two figures underneath it, while the dense golden leaves of the large tree in the background, help to balance the composition.

Abraham Hulk Junior (or Abraham Hulk the Younger) was known for his skill in capturing these delicate subtleties and enjoyed the time he spent within the British countryside. He was trained by his father, the notable maritime painter, Abraham Hulk the Elder (1813-1897) and exhibited at the Royal Academy and the Royal Society of British Artists.

The painting is signed in the lower left, dated on the reverse, and housed in an ornate giltwood and stucco frame.

Condition: Artwork in excellent condition. Frame with a few missing pieces and some cracks.
