A beautifully rendered Autumnal landscape, depicting a figure walking along a muddy track in Suffolk, by Anglo-Dutch artist, Abraham Hulk Junior (1851–1922).

Some of the brushwork here appears almost impressionistic - particularly around the track where we see dapples of light reflecting off the damp ground.

Abraham Hulk Junior (or Abraham Hulk the Younger) was known for his aptitude in capturing these delicate subtleties and enjoyed the time he spent within the British countryside. He was trained by his father, the notable maritime painter, Abraham Hulk the Elder (1813-1897) and exhibited at the Royal Academy and the Royal Society of British Artists.

The painting is signed in the lower right, dated on the reverse, and housed in an ornate giltwood and stucco frame.

Condition: Artwork in excellent condition. Frame with a few missing pieces and some cracks.
