Fine Still Life Oil Painting by G.j.broome

A fine example of Victorian still life oil painting by G.J.Broome depicting fruit on a mossy bank. The painting is typical of Victorian still life painting and in particular the bird's nest painters with the background being a mossy bank. The work is very good quality for the genre and the fruit is beautifully observed.

The painting is signed to the lower left 'G.J.Broome who was a London based painter specialising in still life. He exhibited at both the Royal Academy and Sussex Street gallery between 1867-73.

The painting retains the original frame which is of a very good quality it has some wear and has been later regilded which has faded to a great old gold colour.

The painting has been professionally cleaned and a small repair made on the pear.

A great example of this genre of painting with a wonderful English country house decorative impact. C.1870.
