Superb Victorian Portrait Oil Painting of a Young Girl

A superb late Victorian oil portrait of a young girl. The portrait shows the child looking quite bashfully down while dressed in a white dress with pearls and she has a pink ribbon in her hair. The work is not signed and may have been a sketch for a larger painting or even a gift for a friend. The lack of a signature does not take away from the superb nature of the painting which has exquisite detail. The painting is mounted in a superb quality early Victorian gilt swept frame which is in great original condition. The oval mount is in gilt card and the whole mount and frame may have been reused for the work as it is not a traditional way to frame an oil but is has been like this for some length of time. The whole has a great period look and is a wonderful period portrait in it’s own right. C.1890.
