Description

A beautiful early 20th-century portrait of a lady wearing a white lace blouse and a pendant with chain. It’s been painted with such delicacy that every gentle outline seems to blur into its background. Note the subtle graduation of colour on the right hand side of the image, as the subject’s hair softly blends into the shadows.

The portrait is signed in the bottom left (possibly ‘Capman’ or ‘Capmar’) and is dated 1905. We’ve been unable to trace this artist so do please let us know if you’re aware of who it is.

Size including frame: 33¼” x 27½” / 84.5cm x 70cm

Year of creation: 1905

Condition: One or two minor paint losses and two small pinholes in the bottom left. Contemporary wooden frame and stretchers.
