John Frederick Herring Junior (1815 - 1907)
was an English painter who is best known for his equine art.
John F. Herring Jr.
(1795–1865), who at the time, was considered one of England's great Sporting and Equestrian artists, patronised by the English aristocracy.
His father felt somewhat threatened by his sons talent and later would use the signature Herring Sr.,
Herring jr continued painting, in the tradition of his father, the sporting and animal pictures; however, as he improved, his style changed: He widened his landscape views. The placement of farm animals along the banks of a stream or within a farmyard were characteristic of Herring jr
