Fine Pair of Oil Paintings on Glass

An exceptionally fine example of reverse painted oils on convex glass. the pair of paintings depict two very different scenes though both probably continental, one alpine with figures in a village to the fore and the other a bustling harbour scene. The two are both exceptionally well painted particularly when thinking they were painted from behind. There is no signature sadly but they are most likely continental. The pair are in good condition there is no damage to the glass but there is some discolouration in areas to the paintings, although it gives them a good antique look. The pair are mounted in the original fine quality gilt frames, these are in good condition with some expected minor repairs. The whole have a great decorative appeal and are exceptional examples of the type. C.1880.
