Description

A large early Victorian oil painting on canvas of Conwy Castle showing the castle from the North East aspect with the 1826 road bridge to the left, in the foreground the river Conwy with boats and figures, the castle walls with extensive vegetation, under a clouded sky. Apparently unsigned, in a plain giltwood slip within a moulded giltwood and gesso frame with a leaf border. The painting has been cleaned, varnished and relined and the frame cleaned and restored. Canvas size 20” by 30” (51cm by 76cm) Circa 1850
