Ormolu & Malacite Framed Oval Porcelain Portrait

Description

A truly superb quality late 19th century hand-painted oval porcelain portrait of a Victorian gentleman in a particularly fine ORMOLU and MALACITE FRAME.

Whilst the portrait is beautifully painted with great attention to the finest detail, the beautiful and rare frame is stunning, with its exquisite ormolu mount set within the malacite frame itself. It is French and signed to the back by the firm of Mathieu Delaroche of Paris, who were active there from 1866-1904. Can be hung on a wall or displayed on a shelf or a pieces of furniture via its integral hinged easel. Size: 8 x 9ins (20.5 x 23 cms)
