It’s clear from this 19th century oil on tin that the idea of a ‘cat lady’ has been around for well over 100 years. In this scene, the artist has depicted a woman playing with a cat that’s been placed on a table and wrapped in blankets. While, on the floor, another cat looks upwards, completely unaware that a third is about to pounce on its tail.

The painting is housed within an antique wooden frame.
